A big pattern maker's lathe is going on eBay- bowls to 6ft diam... BUT 3 phase 10hp motor :(:(:( Item number: 170169874801

It is going to make someone's year!

I was recently talking to a business owner who does large turnings.. he let out that he was upgrading his lathes but when pressed he admitted that he would scrap the old ones before selling them.. his reasoning being that he didn't need them getting into the hands of the competition.

I was calling him on my employers behalf so had to hold back on calling him names.

I hadn't thought about it much before but it might explain why we see so few good pattern makers lathes around for sale when they really are as common as mud and constantly being retired.

One day.. right time, right place.. mmmmm... hope its a Wadkin.
