Wish I could afford it, apart from anything else it way beyond my limited (non-existent?) turning skills.

Her: "Whatcha looking at?"

Me: "This lathe on eBay.."

Her: Gives me a look

Me: "It is really cheap for what it is!"

Her: Gives me the look again

Me: "I guess someone is going to do quite well out of it..."

Her: "I guess they will", walks away

Jim Carroll

Greg it would have to be a bit more than awee cellar , the size of the bits this can turn will need a bit of swinging room.

Skew going up third floor Vicmarc VL300 now on show large platters and bedposts.:2tsup:

I've got a strategy.

I think.

just go to back to bed for 3 days 20 hrs and 35 minutes.

Just when i thought the lathe would be nice this appears - http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/showthread.php?t=65910

Decisions, how much can i spend. i've got a lathe but no jointer or thicknesser.

Pour Weisyboy went shopping for the cheap stuff.

These are real tools, can i afford both. Everything saya no but i want em...:?:?:?

For a bit of entertainment it might be worth while watching the bidding over the last hour or so

I imagine things will get quite hectic, well if I was a betting man I'd bet on it:)
SHMBO just noticed what I was looking at and said "were still paying off the last one and the price of that was a surprise"
I can only look and drool - anybody know how to clean a keyboard?

Oh for the innocence of youth, enjoy it while you can.

Then you get married, get a mortgage, have children and you find out that you have something called PRIORITIES:D

Thought of that already Stirlo but the Hafco is probably a $350 - $400 lathe not going to make much difference really.

Yea thats the worry but the divorce came through about 10 years ago (lost count cos of the good times ) the last (4th) kid started work this year, maybe i am the main priority and what are the chances that similar machines will come on the market again at reasonable prices?

With the credit cards at zero maybe now is the time to just do it!!!:?:D

Dead right there Hughie. No point in giving the oposition time to bid against you, it only pushes up the price you are going to pay.
