Hi All
I am looking for some suggestions for projects
A few weeks ago I was given an old fence post. It came from the Dorrigo NSW area and was cut around 120 years ago the guys at Trend timber confirmed that it is NSW rosewood and agree with the age
I have made a couple of clocks by just cutting a slice of the end and turning a raised face for the clock and finished in Glass Coat
But there must be a better way to use this lovely lump of wood
any suggestions
Graham:doh:

Any thing you do with any other wood is just that little bit better with Rosewood (Rose mahogany). I've got a shi^load of it and love it!:U

I have a piece of rose mahogany that's slowly being turned into a bowl. I can hardly cut it and it tears out when I do.
What am I doing wrong? (Apart from not using supergood tools)

Graham,

Here you go, I pulled a few pics off the net. I do this often to see what others are up to, when the old brainbox has a glitch. :C :U

I spoke to Neil awhile ago re-this clock here it is

Made by a Coffs Harbour area turner as far as we can make out the faded name and description "Gerhard Noke or Mile hard to tell?? Sawtell wood - Natural Dorrigo Rosewood purchased at The Coff's markets.
We loved it straight off he was getting rid of it he saw no potential didn't like it at all.

I saw a failed attempt at a carving of a female with long hair - he hadn't seen that side of it. He assured us it was natural shape no carving
Fortunately for us he dropped the price $45 some 15 years ago.

G'day Graham,

Someone shared these pictures with us sometime back, but unfortunately I can't remember who or when:- - have been searching away but can't find the thread (I think it was late 2006).
I saved the images in the hope I would find a suitable lump of wood (and the time) to do someting similar - am yet to find either:B.

(I might have found the thread but no pictures came up so couldn't confirm it was the one.)

Anyway an idea for you and your rosewood maybe.

Like the clock BTW - nice one:2tsup:.
