A mate of mine asked me to make him this because he's been catching some small sharks recently offshore (can't remember what they're called) and on his last trip one bit him when he was bringing it on board. His whole arm swelled up almost straight away and he couldn't continue fishing.
He wants this to subdue them upon entry to the boat to avoid further injury.:o
It's Red Gum and I finished it pretty roughly, because of it's intended use, with HUT wax.:B

HH I would think about putting a wrist strap on it.
If your hanging over the side whacking the living daylights out of a noah the last thing you would want is for it to end up in the drink.

Good question? its so dense I wouldn't be suprised if it didn't.

If it grabbed it or it caught on something and pulled you in would be interesting. :wink::wink:
I would go with the float idea i think.
