G'day,
Know nothing about it, 'cos I turn like milk left in the sun.
A mate asked me.....
"can you use a bowl saver on a big burl??"
I said I'd ask.

I say yes, but it would be slow going but could depend on what size is he talking about.

I don't think he's talking about bowls.....Its more like Duck Ponds!!

At a metre, I don't think you'll have any luck with a bowl saver, they are limited in size. Biggest you could do would be about 600mm diameter.
Could do it by hand with a chainsaw, but he'd want to be good, off the lathe thought :doh:

Yep chainsaws the go, have seen a video of it beign done somewhere in USA. Cant remember who but they used a very narrow fronted bar like they use in chainsaw carving.
