Ok I made the rolling pin you asked for but not sure on the wood type I didn't like working with this wood it took way to long to sand very coarse fibres, but I did enjoy making the rolling pin I think I will make a couple out of iron bark should give them a nice colour contrast (and nice and easy to sand).

The candle holder next to it my 13 year old son Dillon made it is his first attempt at turning
I think he might have a bit of potential there.

Nice work Zarg. Good to see the young 'un coming along too. Always better to have two people asking SWMBO for tool money rather than one.

If you can get a good quality close up of the timber we might be able to identify it. Looks a bit like Jarrah from here.

Ok the batteries are all charged up and here is the close up if it still is hard to tell I have some larger pieces in the work shop.

Looks like Merbau maybe.
