Nice haul KB.

Gloating is OK in Anglo culture; boasting is not.

The Seppos are an exception; they don't know it when they're boasting ;-}

(Excluding the fine N American members of the forum of course; we've resocialised them :wink:.)

How about this.

I bought myself a cube of quarter sawn fiddleback black wood before the Americans came to town and bought up all the fiddleback black wood for musical instruments.

Now I am too scared to cut it up and make stuff with it because its now too expensive.

By golly--must be nice to have a workshop, equipment, and a lumber yard all in ones back yard. Lucky. Other than being dated, I'd never remember which was wet/dry or how long I've had it. And I thought I was doing good with the 5 pieces of log 18 inches long I got last year. And the way it looks, it's gonna get to dry another year.

Yeah, I've relied on memory for identifying some lumps in the 'bank' - big mistake.

I now label and date, and if it's a rough turned bowl, measure and note the moisture level as well.

I now label and date, and if it's a rough turned bowl, measure and note the moisture level as well.I don't worry about dates but I have started putting a code on every piece (eg: CL = camphor laurel, FSW = false sandalwood etc). When I had to sort out Dad's stuff last year I realised I wouldn't have stood a snowflakes chance in hell if he hadn't marked most of it the same way. This way, when I cark it, the Wood club will at least know what they're fighting over :;:U:U:U
