does any one have log volume table or a link to them i have the girth in inches but this can be converted . Mainly would like to check my maths against the tables to compare the two . Thanks

In case you can't find a table;
If girth and length are in inches the
The volume of a log is = (girth^2 x length )/(4 x Pi) , in cubic inches
To convert it to cub ft divide by 1728
example:
if girth = 48" and length is 36"
Vol = (48 x 48 x 36)/(4 x 3.14) = 6600 cu in
divide by 1728 = 3.8 cub ft

another way is .7853 x d1 x d2 x length . d1 and d2 is the diameter of each end of the log or you can get a log volume tables book.i got mine from the sawmill school.but if you drop into a near by mill they might give you an old one or point you in the right direction.i've got the old book that does super feet but crickey it's hard to read:doh:

thanks guys did find that blocklayer.com from old thread .I used mid girth inches converted to mm div by Pi gave diameter half that for radius ,square the radius x Pi (3.141)x length of log = m3 does this sound right .
