Turned today an Oval tealight holder for the birthday of my daughter Karin.
Had to turn it in a hurry, because tomorrow she celebrate her birthday, so not much time left for me, and it seems to me very nice to give her my first oval turning as a present. Well I have to bring up lateron a couple of finishing layers.
It's an oak tealight holder 200x170mm, turned it first with a parting tool to get the oval shape more or less, and after that with a sharp pointed bow gouge. Turned pretty well.

Thanks for looking, and comments are very wellcome.

Cheers. Ad :)

Whoopee! The device actually works. This piece could become a treasured family heirloom. Many turners here inscribe their signature, date and species on the underside of pieces. I'd add something like "AdC's first oval turning." The grandkids would be proud to be part of your tribe.

Well done, Ad.
