Hi

I've got an old baby scales that had been left outside for a while and has been rusting away. I plan on using Rustbuster to remove the rust. The white area is only painted so I'll give it a fresh coat of paint. The scales will be only for display, not for weighing. I don't want to use anything harsh on the rust because the numbers are etched on. Any suggestions as to how I should approach this? I've never done anything like this before

thanks in advance

Electrolysis bath. Read this article and see the pictures on major panics website, Go Here (http://www.majorpanic.com/) go to tools/handplane restoration. go to the 2nd page or watch the slide show. you don't need any expensive equipment. I use a cheap battery charger from Bunnings costing about $15 from memory. The rest of the process is explained on the website. You would need to have a container large enough but that shouldn't be a problem.
The results are excellent.Good luck. Others may have some other ideas.
