I'm about to deck a few trees over the next couple of weeks on the property. These include:

- golden ash (500mm diameter)
- some elms, same size
- 6 radiata pines, approx 600mm+ diameter.
- a stack of redgum

Is any of the timber as useful turning wood? If so, what do I need to do to treat it? Seal the end grain? Store under cover?

Your thoughts will be most appreciated.

regards Jeff

Golden Ash and Elm are nice to turn, nice clean cutting wood whereas Redgum will blunten the tools but you'll get some nice colours and features from it and Pine will need nice sharp tools at all times if you don't want tear out.

Yeh, I agree with hughie, not worth the match to burn it. I'll come and pick up whatever hughie can't fit in. Don't really know enough about preserving. I'll be checking again for some advice.
