Had a bit of spare time recently, time to do some turning. This one is about 200 mm deep and 95mm diameter. Made a 'lid' for it but I am not sure I like it. Think I prefer it without the 'lid'. Body is Queensland maple with kwila 'legs'. Reminds me a bit of Mr. Squigle and his rocket. :)

Mmm... the lid works.

I also prefer it without the lid, though. :D (Isn't it amazing how a simple thing like that can have such a large effect overall?)

Reminds me of the old Flash Gordon series.
Still a good bit of work.

Very nice job!! Lid/No lid. If everyone agreed on what was best, it would be a very boring world wouldn't it?

Yes! With the lid looks a bit 5, 4, 3, 2, 1,.......

Make some more little legs and turn the lid into another bowl. Might look interesting with the upside down filial hanging down!:hmm

I like the tall bowl shape.:2tsup:

I like it without the lid.
But, I like it with the lid too.
With the lid, it needs some sparks and smoke coming from the tail, and Flash waving out the windshield:)
Fine work either way:2tsup:

Nice work either way. But, to put in my 2 bobs like everybody else, I would prefer it with lid but shorter and without finial, more Faberge' egg than Flash Gordon rocket:

Lovely work Jim.

Very nice work on the legs ... another foot man ;-}

Bit hard to compare the two since the pics are somewhat different in scale and angle of shooting.

I think both work, but I also agree that without the lid it looks...... better...... and I polled my wife and she thinks so too.

Nice work for sure! :2tsup:

Does seem a bit "rocketish", doesn't it? Nice job though Jim - looks quite delicate. I'm still to attempt any sort of deep hollowed vessel so I look at every one of these with great interest.

OK, the lid goes. I like Tealady's comment. Might make a different top???? And turn the lid into a miniature bowl with legs... Mmmmmmm?
Thanks for the input.

Very nice work Jim, like the style of the legs. Better without the lid looks like a large acorn with the lid on.
