G'Day gentlemens, how are you today.

Are there any problems with useing Titebond or PVA to glue up Tassie timbers such as, Myrtle, Huon, Sass, Celery Top.
If so, what is bestest.

Cheers, Allan

Allan,
Can't help you specifically with those timbers (Indonesia and PNG arecloser sources for me than Tassie). AV Syntec (I'm sure someone has posted their web address in previous posts) have tested a few difficult to glue species with a range of their glues. Unless these species are known for exudates? (I think that's right, oily and or waxy substances that are in the timber) or the job is exposed to water or mechanical stresses then most general purpose glues will be fine.

I've tried all of those timbers with Aquadhere (the better one), Titebond and Titebond II - all work just fine with the well seasoned timber I've been using. Not sure if you'd have a problem with wetter timber.

I've had more problems with Tassie Oak staining personally.

Allan, you might have a little trouble glueing Huon Pine because of the oil content, I believe the trick is wipe the surface with Metho immediately before applying the glue.
