Just up in Port Douglas on holiday at the moment and flying back to Melbourne on Thursday from Cairns. Does anyone know of a woodturning timber supplier in the area?

There is no serious woodturning timber supplier in Cairns.

For a selection try Daintree & Tolga.

Most woodturners in this area have their own "source" of timber, that doesn't encourage commercial outlets. If you had more time I could probably help you out.

Had a quick look today. They had some good logs tucked away in a container out back but a bit big for the plane... picked up a small but nice piece of gydgee
