Hi Michael,

My local ply supplier (Penrith NSW) tells me that 6mm Gaboon Ply is no longer available, they have a Mahogany Marine ply in 6mm that weights 11 to 12kg per sheet.

How does that compare to Gaboon? how much would it add to the weight of a punt?

Is it possible to still get Gaboon 6mm anywhere?

I am planning on doing a punt to test my skills and then tackle something bigger - love the look of that 'Venezia' :D

Regards

Brendan

Try Trend Timbers (http://www.trendtimbers.com.au/index.php?id=86) at Windsor - their website says they have it

This recent thread (http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/showthread.php?t=73531) had some advice about ply in Sydney too. I recall there seemed to be half a dozen suppliers around Brookvale (or whatever the suburb is called where Hardware and General are and the Manly Sea Eagles across the road). I'm not sure of their stocks though.
