Humbly suggest you should have a Vicmarc in your collection.

I guess has no need for a variable speed lathe.

He only knows two speeds - fast and faster. A slight vibration? Never mind, I'll just knock the corners off quickly and bring it into balance.....

Nah, seriously, boat anchors are v. necessary :D

But to be treely rooly serious, what almost most folk say about this lathe is favourable.

When I upgraded from the MC900 I took a long hard look at the DVR3000. Direct drive is a real plus (though I think Poolewood, now defunct, were the first with this). Overall construction on the other hand was a bit light compared with what I wanted and so I made a different choice.

Since that choice I went to Fred Flinstone's lathe. Good too, but in different ways ... so it all comes down to the trade-offs you're prepared to live with.

Maybe he has , and needs a classy Kiwi machine to turn the fancy stuff :2tsup:
That tree trunk lathe is ok for masts and spars ,
but it limits after all eh
