Yessiree, It's a Nova 3000 with one bed extension and a solid tailstock. It came on a nice big bench with lots of very nice drawers. While I was picking it up the guy offered me a 1/2 Record Skew and a 3/8th Henry Taylor Bowl Gouge for $40:D He also threw in a 3/4" skew for free:2tsup:

All that for $900

I also dropped in on Robyn2839 and some of his timber managed to find it's way into the back of the ute :fisch: :2tsup:

Yeah, yeah...Pics are coming soon

A Jet1220. It's just a bit too small for some jobs so that's why I have a nice big Nova now:D

Pic 1 shows the lathe
Pic 2 is a shot of my workshop...and some of you complain that you have a garage..
Pic 3 is the lathes current resting place...In the walkway:-
Pic 4 shows all my chisels. The new ones are the three on the left. Notice the 20" long handles on the right:D
Pic 5 shows some of the extras
Pic 6 is a shot from the other side of the workshop...

Eventually the workbench will go up against the outer wall, the mitre saw (which will be on the small lathe bench will be next to it. The Jet 1220 will go on the Mitre saw bench where the mitre saw currently is and the new lathe will go where the Jet. The drill press will eventully be on it's own stand next to the workbench.

Good score FC!

Those Novas are pretty much the same as the 1624, so a good machine overall.

That will allow to get into bigger "lumps"of wood so, time for some fun...!:doh::;

Your workshop is not huge but you could do a lot better if you used the space differently. Now, don't take me wrong or take offence, I was young once, I know how it goes..., and I'm sure you have more important thoughts in your head than have the workshop set- up properly but, and I wish I was closer to give you a hand and some ideas of how to built shelves on those empty walls and some work-bench space. Is only so much you can fit in the floor, and yours is pretty full, how do you manage to walk around?:D.
I didn't see much of shavings anywhere, what do you do with them? big "blower"???:oo:

Anyway, easier said than done, huh?
At least, you don't seem to be short of timber so, lets get that Nova going...!:U

Cheers:2tsup:

Bloody good workhorse , those Nova 3000s mate , good score indeed :2tsup:

Did ya get a scroll chuck with it ?

Yep FC , shelves are the one mate .

Narrow ones up high , for your pen blanks , and wider stronger ones at waist height , for your big bowl blanks , and one for the roughed out bowls in between .
That leaves the floor underneath for the timber that you have still to break down .
The trick is , to pick the best wall to build the shelves on .

If Meringandan is the place on google earth that I found , you are not too far away from my brother's place in Red Bank Plains , where I shall be visiting in a few weeks .
Good to know there is another turner close by .
I might go into withdrawals :p

I already had a GPW Chuck, couldn't be without it.
Redbank plains is 118Km away so it's not exactly within stones throw

In actually find it's quite a handy way of storing them:wink:

As for cleaning up the workshop, I'll get to it sometime...When we stick a concrete floor in I'll have to have a big cleanout

Thanks FC , I appreciate that .
I have to get over to Aussie first ... wearing an elastic bandage on my knee at the mo. Hopefully that will fix it  rather than anything more
drastic

My Nova XP needs an insert for the Nova chuck , I think they all do .
one insert per chuck seems to be the go .
