I'm in Adelaide a fairly stable zone. Bought some timber in blanks and logs. they were seasoned & the green ones they were sealed but all have cracked. some were 8 % and others were 20 % but all have cracked. how do I stop this in the future? As I have wasted $100 bucks on timber for my turnings:C:C

Gees Michael... is that the timber you got from me?

Can we have some pics so that I can have a look, please?

Until I know a bit more, is difficult to pinpoint the causes!
BTW, Adelaide is not as stable for timbers as you think it is...! with some timbers, no place is!:no:.

Cheers:2tsup:

Carcked timber isn't always wasted. Sometimes those cracks really add some character to the piece. As RBTCO said some timbers are never safe. Take silky oak. It cracks even when you think you have sealed it perfectly. Some pieces I just leave the cracks in, others I have a go at filling them so they don't fall apart on the lathe.
