Here is something that I have not seen before;

Batik item (http://homepage3.nifty.com/manasan/english/diy/batik/batik.htm)
and
the works (http://homepage3.nifty.com/manasan/english/diy/turning/turn-30.htm) :2tsup:

Damm, I wish I had thought of it ...:doh:

I also saw this never before, looks like Indonesion art.
But there are many other ways to create nice objects or patterns.
Looks interesting, but I think I keep it by that thoughts.

I know its prolly terribly romantic to use leaves and mordants and melted wax, but couldn;t you just paint a design with shellawax glow or even just shellak then dye or stain over that? Then finish over that? :shrug:

Well, no.:rolleyes: Would be called resist. Doesn't sound as romantic.:p

Also, I just thought if you are going to use wax, then why not use the wax that will be the finish? :shrug: After you have done a few layers of different colours, just put more shellawax on, and rub in. (I can feel a test coming on. )

Hmm, most likely it isnt even batik as batik is as much a process as it is a art form.
