Another of my mates has a new grandson so I have made another train set and put his name on it.
Also, a couple of pictures of a toy truck with crane and trailer. Instead of a hook on the crane I used a magnet to pick up the barrels out of the trailer.

Now you are talking.Real kids toys. Not the plastic C^#*P
and yours are made from real materials and lots of love .:2tsup:
Should last a lifetime.
Hope your mates grandson treasures them.
Ruddy,these are top class jobs.
Did you make the truck from plans?
Ross
ps. What did you use for axles?
They look like some sort of allen head bolts.Very effective.

Can you adopt me please? I'd love to be your grandson/daughter! :)

Those are beautiful, I love the natural colours and the extra touches like the magnets for picking up barrels!

I'm sure that is one happy little boy!

Thanks everyone for the comments.....I hope to get a little more time to make a few more things in the shed, It all helps to keep the brain ticking over.
Aussie, Wheelinround.......I have the book "Making Hierloom Toys" by Jim Makowicki and although I dont follow it exactly, I use it to get the proportions much the same as his designs. I like to change and add a few things. I know kids love anything that moves such as the crane with winch. I made the Fire Engine with extension ladder and added a hose and a few pipes. Any time the grandkids came they would always get Fire Engine out and do their stuff. Boys love fire engines.
The axles were made from some old copper rivets I had accumulated from years ago. Basically the rivets were 1/4 dia about 2' long and had a domed head. I have none left and will have to do a hunt to see where I might get some more. If I find them I will let you know. They were originally made for use in the assembly of some HV switchgear!
Keju.I am not sure I could adopt a toymaker.......there is just not enough room in the shed unless I tell SWMBO to put her car in the driveway........

Are you telling me you actually park a car in the garage????? Is that what garages are for? hmmmm...
I remember the frist time my Dad visited me in Texas... the one thing he always shook his head over was ..... everyone seems to put their expensive cars on the road or driveway and their JUNK in the garage! lol
At least what we have in there can't be considered junk..... :)
