Hello Guys,
I need your advice on getting the best out of some Bullock Bush (Alectryon oleifolius)
The logs I have are about 250mm diameter and they have a wonderful red-heart the colour of beetroot about 60 - 80mm in diameter though by the time it is sliced in half with a chainsaw ( I don't have a band saw yet) there isn't much of the heartwood left to play with.
What would be the best approach for cutting up this timber?
As a matter of interest, this stuff is as hard as anything I have seen, the chainsaw "chatters" when it gets to the heart, you don't get too many slices per blade and this timber is still green!!
Your advise,as always, is appreciated.
Have a great New Year
Regards,
Bruce.

Care with drying is your first step. Get onto the timbermilling forum and talk to them . BobL is full of good advice.
