These noisy buggers are all over the place at the moment. It's sooo bloody noisy in the early mornings it's hard to sleep. :((

When they are not making a racket they have a bit of a kip about mid-morning, that's how I managed to get close enough for these pictures.

Nice pics again Major, what lens do you use for shooting up in the trees, and do you use a polariser and leave it on all the time.

G'day Fred,

The lens used was a Nikkor AF-S 300mm f/4.

I don't normally use a polariser on this lens due to the fact the lens is slow (f/4). I do however use it on my 24-70mm zoom.
I have a 14-24mm f/2.8 Nikkor but you can't use any filter on it because of the very curved front element.

Very nice, the only birds we get close enough to photograph are sparrows - all the native birds give the area a miss - too many cats and dogs:(
