Platter fun turning, made of a piece pretty dry alder. Notice the white mouldy spots, and some brittle spots, just like birch shows when it is to dry.
But it looks nice.
DxH 220mm x 48mm.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers Ad

Great choice of wood, and excellent execution as usual. The extra grooves on the bottom even seem to be equally spaced - amazing.:2tsup:

Cheers,
Joe

Hi Oldiephred, this wood is Alder or in Dutch Elzen, got 6 juge chuncks 50cm in diameter and 1 meter long, so very heavy. My son-in-law brought it to me with his truck, this stuff was laying for at least two years in the backyard covered with canvas at the home of the neighbors of his parents. In fact when it lays that long you get spalted alder. To stop this process you have to store in a dry place, like I did with two chuncks, maybe I'm to late, this was my first experience with this wood, and I like it.
Cheers. Ad :)
