Has anybody paid a visit to the second Melbourne Carbatec store? If so is it worth while, are they any more orginised than the Richmond store, where is it exactly?

Stinky.

Stinky, I have been there as it is not that far from me.

I found the people very friendly and helpful and has offstreet parking. The big problem is that they still do not carry a large enough range of items. I have been told that if I ring them they will have the item in their store the next day (coming from Richmond), subject to availability.

They are on the left hand side (coming from Melbourne) of Mountain Highway Bayswater just before Dorset Road.

Thanks guys,

If the store is sourcing stock from Richmond then I may be better off taking my chances with the old store. Is it run by the Richmond people or a new crowd?

It is still run by the same people. The new store is just a larger warehouse and they shuttle their goods from one shop to the other depending on who orders what.

I do all my shoping (ordering :( ) there now as it's much closer for me.

I'm just a little disapointed at how long it's taking them to fill it up (if they intend to), half of the fun in going to Carbatec is to look and touch everything. IMHO.

I often look at the other people in the shop and think 'I wonder if he's one of the guys from the board'. :D

So, if I was to say to you 'I hear the weather's lovely in Aspen this time of year' you'd say......

get out from under the desk, you're too ugly and while you're on the floor tell my wife (who is rolling around down there laughing)that it's not nice to laugh at the thought of anyone being afraid of my salami.
Anyway I'm not the one who mentioned hiding, or gay, or monkeys or anything. I now have my reputation to consider ;)
Why does everyone misunderstand me

To settle the location of the new store, travel up Stud Rd until you hit the T intersection with Mountain Hwy.
When the light turn green go straight accross and you will be in the car park.
I thought it was a warehouse for Richmond stock but the display area is good.
Back to hiding gay monkey's salami's

Yesterday, whilst I was at their Richmond store, I saw that they are having a relocation sale with discounts of 10 % to 50 % of their floor stock.

They are relocating to the Bayswater store early in September and closing in Richmond.

Good for us in the eastern suburbs :D not so good for the rest.

Yes and it isn't the 1st of April.

Actually quite a few customers from the wrong side of town weren't happy. Don't know why. :D :D

Had a gig in Melb Thurs night so made the 600km trip a day early as I'm looking for a table saw ($2500 - $4500 price range).

Called to city store waited a fair time for service, not too bad when I got it, but only to find table saws on display were'nt what I was looking for or, had bits missing, looked like they were cheap & nasty etc some of them. I heard guy behind counter say they were moving due to rent increasing again! Fair enough I thought, I might make effort to visit new store (hoping for big improvemnt in service & stock carried).

Well I should have packed my swag to get there! Bloody long way out of town! I think this will have been my first & last visit. When we arrived and entered, a chap sitting behind the counter completely ignored us, (only one other chap in store browsing on far side of shop) we looked around & proceeded out through glass door to machinery shop.

Noone there to help me either. Found a saw to my liking & wanted more info looked around for help, was going over it for approx 7 - 10 mins and by then my Brother & I were the ONLY customers in the store. The bloke on the front desk couldn't be bothered to offer any help so I dumped the few bits & pieces I had collected whilst walking around the store & left!

What they don't seem to care about is the good old customer service!!

It seems ridiculous that they would flee the popular city location to open a store such a long way from central. If only they approached their business from a different angle they would surely be making more than enough $$$$ to cover rent increase in Richmond!

Such a pity really as they do a great catalogue with fair pricing, however seem to rarely have in stock what I specifically go there for.

My dissapointment at the lack of customer service at new store was also noticed by my Brother who made the comment, "no wonder they're closing (city store), they obvously don't care about your cheque book"!

I know some would be thinking "why didn't you get some one of their butt to help you"? Well, we made eye contact with both the staff members who observed us going over machinery for a period of time, ANY smart person would have known to offer some service instead of ignoring us!

If I can't get good service when I need it, I simply go to where I find it!

Have pretty much made decision to purchase saw in Adelaide next visit.
There's a great tool shop we all know that delivers wonderful service!

It's everywhere I'm afraid.

I went looking for a spa 2 years ago and when I go looking...I buy. I went to a place in rowville and walked around for a while looking at the spa which all had big price tags on them so i didn't need the guy at that pint. He was sitting behind the desk reading the paper !! After a while, we left and walked right past the desk. he didn't even look up. We proceeded to a competitior's store in Hallem and the guy was very helpful. I spent $12,500 on the spot !

Makes you really wonder sometimes. I don't appreciate salespeople who won't leave you alone if that's what you want but at least they should ask ' can i help you?'

Bob Willson

but at least they should ask ' can i help you?' Actually Gumby that is the very last thing that a good sales person should ask. They should just walk up and initiate a conversation. if they ask if they can help and you say "No thanks, just looking" then that is the end of the conversation. So something along the lines of "This particular model costs a little bit more than the X brand one, but just look at the specs on this little beauty " etc.

Hey just a thought ans thats strange ....for me :D but if yourve got time to message here why not message/email/snail mail the manager of these stores or even the head office. Give details ie date , time, sales assist. name should be on their shirt and what you were looking to buy. Dont be stupidly rude but DO let them know what they missed on.

Grissling here wont do any good, but complaints to management should produce answers.. if you give name and address as well you might get a voucher to spend.  Tonto
