Seems pretty well made and certainly reinforces the original stand. Would certainly improve the rolled metal stand on my mc-1100...

Cheers,

A hell of a nice stand. Think he's been misinformed about the wood being purpleheart though....unless it's been sitting in the sun for a long time.

Doesn't purpleheart go brown if you apply too much heat to it? Such as with heavy sanding or friction polish? Dunno if that's right, but I read it around here somewhere...

Yup. Depends on what type of "Purpleheart" it is though. Apparently that's another generic name for several species. [shrug]

But the one that I'm familiar with is a dark "aged-Oak" sort of colour when fresh cut, which will darken to a chocolate with heat and/or turn purple with u/v exposure.

Either way, it will eventually darken to a muddy brown given enough time in use.

Whilst I can appreciate the fine workmanship, the engineering integrity and the sheer impressiveness onf the achievement, I am disappointed that everything has it's place and home, easily reached and tidy.:D

That approach may completely work in the house for domestic matters(under watchful eyes of SHMBO), but flies in the face of what a shed is for!

If I can find everything just at the moment I need it, there is a significant reduction in the amount of general shed pottering time. Surely the very reason sheds exist is to contain the Male's intrinsic need for chaos..

Still, having said that.. I'd kill for a lathe stand that good!!
