I recently joined these forums to seek abit of advice and help on getting a traineeship or possibly an apprenticeship in furniture (cabinet) making.

it seems to be proving difficult being a young woman to find work in a trade and also with this recession in place.

I'm only the tender age of 20, i've discovered my love for woodworking not too long ago at my current workplace and i've thought hard about taking up doing furniture making as a career and also as a hobby on the side.

just wanted to know if there are any tertiary courses i could do?
and also are there any women here that are currently working as a tradie?

Give Tracy Gumm (http://www.irminsul.com.au/home.html) and Sturt School for Wood (http://www.sturt.nsw.edu.au/woodschool.htm) a call. Sure they'll be able to help.
