Alpine landscape
Hi guys,
at last I have a new work to show you. (hope you like it)
It takes a long time to be finished due to the challenging pattern and the fragile wood. The wood is swiss pine finished with danish oil. Dimensions about 20X50cm.
The pattern is from a Lora Irish drawing.

Wow!!! The Alpine Landscape is incredible. The amount of fine detail and oh my! The tree carved just so it is nearly separate from the scene... Just amazing!!!!! I don't like it, I love it!!!

Fantastic. I particularly like the way you have captured the reflection of the building in the 'water'. Never seen that tried in a relief carving before. I also love the tree trunk standing proud of the background sky. Did you use power for that part? The knot is unfortunate, but that's wood. Was it visible in the raw blank when you started?

Well done Paolo,congratulations.
Gee, it's nice to be able to look at and absorb the detail in such a brillant relief carving.

nice one paolo
..getting depth in a relief carving has always had a bit of alchemy about it
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

Thank you to all for the appreciation. I'm very happy that you like it
The reflection is a trial: I'm not very satisfied. I'm sure it could be done better.
I used a dremel only to clean and to smooth under the branches when they were too thin to use gouges. Yes, the knots were visible in the blank but, this is typical of swiss pine: there are many knots and itis impossible to avoid them. The advantage of this wood is that you can carve the knots quite easily; a friend suggest it could be the rising sun........

I thought it was a ufo or two taking off, or else an eruption.
