    Ivan,

Magnífico! or should I say великолепный

I am not a big fan of Art Deco etc, but on this occasion it would be easy to become one.

    - good memory , Harry72 - it's not an exact match , of course , but goes along the same lines .Details:

Beautiful work as usual, Ivan. How did it feel carving the European ash? AFAIK it is not generally considered good for carving.

That's right , Frank - even if it's softer that the American ash , it is still hard , with nasty grain , not unlike pine.I decided to use it only because there was not much to carve , and I wanted white(lighter than cedar) wood.(And the workshop is full of ash) The worst of all is sanding (exept flat boards) - the softer grain where the pores are just melts under the slightest touch with the sandpaper , while the harder parts stay proud . The good thing is it's over - now I'm back to ash , but this time it's veneer.....whats this world coming to?
