Thread: Boatbuilding

Hello everyone
I am boatbuilder from Croatia, I live and work on a small island of Murter.
I'm here with you to share my experiences and to learn new things from you.
I'll try to be on the forum to write and read as often as I can!!

In this region we are building boats of hardwood, mostly oak.
I build mostly small traditional boats typical for a small part of Croatia,
called gajeta!!
Despite the efforts of many (Sailing rallies, workshops for young, etc..) it started to drown in a "sea of ​​plastic"!! These days more and more plastic has replaced wood, so I'm afraid that my gajeta will no longer exist!
I am one of three young masters remaining in this business, and these older are slowly dying.... So....with all the love that I feel for this job, I feel also the responsibility to awake consciousness of young generation around me!!!
Some listen, some do not! So I thought.... think locally, act globally (what an irony)
I would like to hear comments on future posts and pictures, in hope that I'll have something good to tell to the local community
