Default For a bride to be

    Hi Guys
Had a call from a young lady getting married, she wanted an interesting slab of timber that her guests could sign that she could then hang on their wall later. I picked a Mango slab from Mal Ward, knocked the bark off and have given it a sand. The young bride also wanted a small carving on it so it would match their invitations etc. I had to simplify and alter it a bit to fit on the slab in a suitable position. So far so good. Quite a fun little project. Some finish will zing it along.

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

I thought they were to have guests sign this CH with a finish on it its going to be hard to more so if its oil. I'd either sand it back or leave it and do final coat after its signed.

Hi Ray, she had a photo of one being signed, it was finished and they were signing it with fine tip marking pens. When I first spoke to her I had the same idea as you, let them sign it and then put the finish over the top. Errrrr, wrong

A Rotring with the red band is a .5mm isn't it? I've still got my full set including a beasty, but I can't remember just how fat it is - great for blocking in big areas.

But I digress, a nice looking project there.

Just so you can sleep well Waldo, pretty sure brown band was the .5mm Very dainty Craw, ope she's got a solid wall to hang it on. Shame if the writings are all balck felt tip, gold of the dark kind or dark brown would look spiffy IMHO

Thanks guys. Ah, they'll work the pens out. Its not that heavy realy, Mango isn't as bad as some timbers. I just love the grain and colour of Mango and its nice to work too.

She isn'as silly as she sounds CH that way all she needs to do is a bit of solvent and names just vanish from the varnish. Bet the MiL's goes first
