    Default Carved Wooden doll

I was clearing up the computer when I found some of my older work, thought it might make a departure from the usual carvers subject matter.
This is Known as a Tuck Comb doll or Grodnertal doll. Grodnertal is a village in the Itallian alps which supplied dolls & toys to most of Europe for many centuries, it was all one massive cottage industry where the whole family would have a role in it's manufacture.
The quality of the work varied enormously from roughly hacked out to exquisite , the good originals sell for thousands , a reproduction for substantially less !
They were made in various sizes 17" tall to just a couple of inches, my reproduction stands five & thee quarter inches tall ( the popular dolls house scale) The articulated joints were particularly fiddly to cut.
