Celtic Knot
I'm making a box for a couple who had a Celtic wedding and they want a representation of the traditional wedding knot on the lid. I'm looking for someone who can carve the symbol into the lid. (see attached sketch). The box is Australian Red Cedar so it's quite soft. In located in the Blue Mountains of NSW but willing to travel to get the right carver.
Can anyone suggest who may be able to help, obviously the closer the better.

Im in Lapstone Dan but I dont claim great skill. What about the Woodworkers club at Mt Riverview. The Woodturners will have contacts as well.

I might be able to help you out with this depending on the time available. I live in Glenmore park, not far from the mountains and I am a member of Riverview Woodcrafters. If you search around on my website and scroll back through my blog you will find examples of carved celtic knot work. Mount Riverview woodcrafters meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month 10:00 am to 1:30 pm and I am there on most occasions.
Otherwise send me a private message here. I could also show you how to go about doing the work yourself I you want to go that way.

Nice Blog DIY Dan. I've been asked to carve some sort of motif into four poles that are part of a new outdoor wedding rotunda. I've come up with the idea of using the image of DNA strands - your spoon has inspired me to use the strand as if it were a twisted vine with leaves sprouting off, wrapping around each pole.
