There is quite a lot of feeling in this piece. To me he looks a little tired.

Did you intend to make him that way?

    That is a gallery-grade piece.
I am in awe of the finishing of the carving and the quality of the finished surface.

Hi Schaf, I saw this on Ian Norbury's site and loved it, your version has a sadder expression but it works
great, very real, well done. I've never downloaded any of his tutorials, what did you think of them?

Thanks Robthechisel, I think all of Norbury's instruction methods are great.
I have three of his books maybe 4 and they are well explained with lots of photo's and drawings.
This new method of downloading lessons is exceptional. At 1 english pound per lesson they are affordable
and you can download each lesson in your own good time.If 1 lesson is about something you are already confident
with, then you can skip that one and wait for the next one to be produced.
I only downloaded the 1st five of the 15 lessons because I wanted to see how Norbury set out his face and where or how he took his measurments

Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

Below are 2 carvings I have done from Norbury books.

Thanks Terry, They sound like great value at one pound per lesson for a novice carver
like me, he just has the knack of making his carvings look so real and with great expression.
Those other two carvings you did of his are a good example of that. Great work, I've been in a bit
of a carving lull at the moment but you've fired me up again.
    Thanks
    Rob

Nicely done Schaf, Jesters have all expressions IMO

Im also working my way through Ian Norbury's tutorials, they have been very helpful.
