Default One flew over the cuckoo's nest

Not specifically a cuckoo... one of a pair from a scentless rosewood rootball/stem. Eyse are obsidian. Initially began as flying fox then turned it around.

Nice piece Movay. Congratulations. What is your preferred choice of finish for a carving.

The Australian organic decking oils are best usually.

A good linseed oil with a bit of melted bees wax and some drier (I use cobalt drier).
I've used penetrol to replace the linseed.

I also use penetrol in marine varnish. For outdoor straight marine varnish.

Iused fibreglass resin a while ago on a bench I did for a community workshop where they do felting and things get wet. That was difficult as it had to be done in a few layers with the first being thinned a lot with acetone and then getting progressively thicker. It goes of quickly and is very messy, but permanent waterproofing is assured. No paint is perfectly waterproof (though I hear one is made), but resins are).

    Thumbs up

Your bird has a decidedly semi-jurrasic look! I rather like it.
