    Wow that's amazing, well done

    With some black paint and then interference paints to look like abalone on the inside, you could have fooled me it was real

    I think when a experienced craftsman/artist patiently focuses his undivided attention on a subject , something about that depth of penetration is communicated to the viewer , insight is offered.
    This I believe is how how your carving "works" - Excellent work !
