Little dragon head
Been some time I didn't came here...
A little dragon's head, carved out of birch.
It's partially 'ebonized' for the stain. Strangely and fortunately, this time it turned greenish; last time it was more blue on the piece of wood, with the same (quite old) bottle of stain...
I raised the scales using the ukibori technique, my second try with this technique.

The Ukibori technique eh? I'd better google that one.

I love it , looks like a mounted fossil if I didn't know better ! that texturing is unattainable in any other way & most appropriate for the piece.

Yep, Summer has gone here (even if the sun & warm weather just start to show now...) so i have a little more time to share on the forum.
Because of the lack of sun, goats are late in their 'let's make babies' period, but they're alright !
Janel Jacobson did a nice tutorial about ukibori (plus the rest of the carving) on his website, nice even more because his carvings are exquisite. Check out :
