Thumbs down Oily drift wood!

Well it is not looking good for those of us collecting drift wood along the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comAlabama and <ST1Mississippi </ST1coast for the foreseeable future. Nor the fishing. Both maybe full of oil. Very sad!

Were all keeping up with it on our news. It's not looking good.
Will have repercussions for years in so many ways.
We all wish all you the best with this one.
Have a good one

Yes, not good in any sense at all CV3.

I feel for the people living in the area. They have suffered a double whammy. Firstly the Hurricane and now this.

On the positive side the response from the president has been swift.

That is of little comfort though to a couple of fishermen who are now, o all intents and purposes, bankrupt.

I wonder at these big companies. Fristly BP maintaied everything was under control. Then they delayed telling the truth of the situation. After saying the clean-up costs would be met by them BP turns around and denies responsibility for the problem!!!

I guess we have to wait and see whether BP will stick to their funding committment.

We are scheduled to get oil into the Mississippi and Alabama coast by the weekend. They are putting booms along the beaches and estuary as fast as they can. No one really knows what will happen. But it will not be good. Hurricane season is coming in a few weeks and we have had tem in early June and July. If that happens the storm surge would put those booms a long way inland. People I know that work off shore say they will be lucky to stop the flow in the next 3 months. Sea food industry down here is all but shut down now.

Look at the positive side, our children will not have to worry about oil pollution. On the other hand, they may all die of radiation poisoning... If the rising sea level has not drowned them first. Of course, there is always a tiny hope that the human race could become less stupid. Hope the thought makes you smile.
