    Default Table Display

So my wife came home with a wooden table display that was basically a raw piece of wood with a deep grove routed out by a cnc machine I'd say, I told her I was offended she bought something like that without asking me and that I could probably do way better, ( me and my big mouth), she took it back to the shop and and got a refund, came home and said OK, do way better. I thought I've really put myself in it here, I've never really done anything like that. So with a little plan in my head I managed to get some very cheap Poplar wood from Masters closing sale and had a bash at it. Here is what I came up with, it was all done with an Arbortech mini grinder with a Sabur took disc attachment, no chisels . I used a bit of the coral look I've been doing to it make more unique looking. Anyway she was pretty happy but I'll keep my mouth shut from now on .

Nice looking display tray! I think the "coral look" addition is great!

Thanks Claude, I thought I had to add something to make the tray more original.

If you were paying the bill for the piece I would certainly agree take it back.

Actually even if you were not paying the bill, better to make it yourself.

    Nice piece.

    I like the coral effect.

How did you do it? With a drill press?

Hi Christos, I wasn't paying the bill but what she bought was very ordinary and over priced and I just felt I could probably attempt something better.

Hi Cava, I just use a hand drill then go around the diameter of the hole with a small Dremel burr to clean it up and change the shape a bit. On this one I drew the pattern on paper and then copied it, cut out the shapes and stuck it to the wood if you get my drift, that gets you a bit symmetry with the holes.

'Way to go, Rob! You brought it off, marrying several of your techniques.
I like the result. The collective design all fits together.

    Yeah, shut the hell up.

Thanks RV, I thought of the lovely "functional" carvings you have done and for once I done one myself
