Advice on Building a Sauna
Hi I am thinking about building a sauna at home just wondering if anyone has any advice on this topic. For example is there any special requirements for nails, I will be using cedar do you have to put a finish on the boards or are the just left in there raw state. Any special requirements for insulation. What would you need to do to maintain it. Any help would be great Thanks

We've had a Tylo combi sauna steamer unit in our sauna for about 18 years, I would suggest if you haven't thought of one of these units, it may be worth thinking about. The aspects of getting either a steam sauna or a dry heat sauna, or a combination of both, really makes the sauna far more attractive to many people. Sorry about lack of information regarding nails and like stuff, but as far as dressing the outside, we find it requires doing about every 4 years, especially the north facing wall. It's cedar. Mick.

Nothing on the timber inside and use silicon bronze boat nails.
