    Default Advice needed pls

    Hello guys, and ladies.

I'm hoping someone could give me some advice on building a replica of a Mission MS-800 subwoofer. The actual cab is not a deal at all, but what is getting me is, the FRONT BAFFLE. This cab has two rounded beveled arches, on either side of the driver. Now I can manage to work out the degree of the arches, even from a pic. But my first problem is, the bevel goes from wide at the top in marked yellow, to a bit wider in the centre marked green, to finally very narrow at the bottom marked in red. It might even be the light that makes the centre bit more pronounced.

Second problem is, the tools I have. On hand I have a router, circular saw, jig saw, drill etc. Is there a way, or a jig I could build to achieve this?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Firstly, is the face of the speaker cover, concave? that would give you the widening effect, but also if tilted slightly, have you measured or are you trying to replicate from a picture? if so its relatively irrelevant as no-one you know will spot the difference (if your trying to replicate). as for achieving this bevel I would recommend making a template of the shape then using a 22.5deg with bearing to follow the shape. If you make the face a 3 piece, and glue'ing those 2 outer shaped boards on the face of the board that your speaker will be set in.
One thing I have learnt about Sub's over the years is that you want to hear them and feel them, but not really see them. you want people to be amazed at awesome sound coming from a small set of speakers (all the whilst the engine is behind the sofa and not something a kid has the chance to kick a ball into. Just my opinion

    Hi Fumbler

All I have to go by is the picture, so I cant really tell if its concave or not. By the looks of things, I might just bevel it along the edges with a round nose bit and forget the "concave" bit. As you say, its more about the sound than the looks. I would still want it to look good though ) I will be using to separate pieces for the front bafel, possibly run a round over bit along the inside of the second piece. May I ask, what is the bes glue for glueing wood veneer? I have been using contact adhesive up until now, but leaving whatever I just veneered in the hot sun literally causes the veneer to pull itself apart, tearing everywhere. Its like the contact cement shrinks under the veneer and just rips it.

As for kids kicking a ball into it, all mine are grown up, so no worries there.

It sounds like you have all the tools you need. I don't understand what the issue is with your tools.
You can make a simple jig to guide your circular saw in a straight line. You can rough cut the curve with your jig saw. You can make an extra part off set from the desired curve to act as a guide for your router.
Only thing you didn't mention was a sander.

Each side is a mirror image of the other so try to cut them together to make them identical. Then open like a book.
To make thick sheets bent at a curve use many thin sheets and laminate together.

Perhaps you can explain in more detail what you're unsure of in regards to the tools.
