air erasable markers
These are new to me - apologies if they have been noted before.
Some of you might find these useful. So called 'air erasable pens'. Basically just marker pens with a nice deep pigment that fades away to nothing over a period of time.
It takes about an hour on steel
Overnight on fabric
About 3 days on Tassie oak
they work pretty much as promised. Uses in woodworking may be a bit limited - I use them for doing inlay/marquetry type work where there is a danger of getting pencil lines or graphite-impregnated sawdust in the gaps, or where sanding is impossible. I also use them on my machinery - for example when I want to cut something repetitively I put a mark on the table to line up with. When I come back later to do something else there is no trace of it.
For upholstery they are magnificent - mark away with abandon and next morning its as though all the ugly blue lines were never there.
Caveat emptor - timbers are a bit weird sometimes with tanins etc so test first if you use on timber. Also, maybe an issue with finishes - it hasn't been for me - but maybe ?
Photos below are as done, and overnight.
I got mine at Spotlight. There is also a water-erasable version. I haven't tried that.
cheers
