so for $50 bucks i think i might just bite the bullet and grab a mitre saw.. its so cheap
my only concern now is that its 8 inch blade. its this too small? i saw on bunnings website they do sell 8" blades so thats a positive that it can be replaces fairly easily
thoughts? or am i better off saving my money and buying something of a little higher quality at some point in the future?

My reply mightbe a bit out of date but I am on my third Aldi table saw. First was 10 inch blade , fine tooth option because I make wooden toys and gives cleaner finish. After long and faithful service over three years +, motor bearings collapsed. (Nightmare to extract motor so scrapped it). I bought an Aldi 8 inch as temporary solution but it has a fiddly fence, wastes time a bit, so now another Aldi 10 inch saw with which I am well pleased. Nice fence adjustment. Stuart

The band saw looks ok for what it is, it just works.
But it has the wobbliest fence imaginable, time to figure out how to make a band saw table and fence.

I take back my fence comment, I'm an idiot. It has a tensioning screw running inside it that you turn with the actual tightening knob and you can get the the whole thing to clamp down on the table as tight as you want. Solid and clever.
Now getting the blade to run anywhere near the middle of the roller is a whole different story, but that probably has more to do with me tuning a band saw for the first time.

Has anyone considered replacing the table on their aldi tablesaw? It looks like it just screws on, and having a bigger table with standard slots would help a lot.
