Amazing guys at Carbatec
I went to Carbatec for the first time today and was blown away. I was looking for a (non-powered) router and the only one they had was $200+, which I wasn't prepared to spend yet.
They gave me advice on how to get one second-hand, AND told me about these forums!
I don't know if these guys are sponsors here or if they are members, but either way, that's the best service I've had in ages.
If you guys are on here... thanks a million. I'm more than happy to do the hour round-trip to come visit again and again. That place is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Hummmm - you should check some of the gripe threads about the unevenness of their service....it doesn't seem to be people related, more stock control and inventory level issues.

I have had my gripes about Carbatec in the past and probably will in the future but I had the motor on the Carbatec jointer that I have had for about 6 years burn out. Called Carbatec in Brisbane about 1.30 to see if they had a spare, were out of stock (sound familiar) spoke to Andrew and he said they had a demo on the floor which he said they would take the motor out of and send to me for $249.00. I said great and expected to wait for 2 or three days for it to turn up, well surprise surprise it turned up the following afternoon at about 3.30 and an even bigger surprise the price had dropped to $189.00 plus $18.00 freight.
So on this purchase I can only say thank and very well done Andrew and Carbatec .

guys are good at carba-tec but stock levels are a problem only been twice with about $1000 to spend not worth the drive otherwise and at least 2 or 3 items are not in stock. also found to my suprise that qaulity is an issue for example the jap chisels that I brought are not straight although the steel is good and the edge they hold is fantastic they are still not straight. other items I have that are not there cheap stuff have had quality issues too, I am thinking that they work to a price as a company model not to a standard only thing saving them are the good staff they manage to have.

Tough crowd in here. Someone has good service from a company and gets hounded for saying so. I've heard good and bad stories about them but nothing worth posting which hasn't already been said through these forums.
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Shop staff wise, I have only good things to say about CarbaTec.
They take the wrath from customers about thing they have no power to rectify plus they get the blame for quality control and are still expected to be civil and accommodating.
Once the goods has gone to the "mailing room", things are out of their hands.
We seem to be willing to punish the messenger ....................
I want to make it perfectly clear that, when I complain about CarbaTec, it is the company and the not the staff I am aiming at.

I Like Carb-a-tec.........
I like Carbatec and do not have a bad thing to say about them or their stock levels. A phone call is all it takes to see if they have the particular item you want or not. If anyone is dopey enough to drive all the way there to find out that the phoofa valve they want is not on the shelf then it is bad luck for them. When my Carbatec machines have played up (yes Chinese machinery have faults) all it has taken is a phone call and the offending part has been replaced or advice given as to a solution. No dramas. Daniel99 experienced the upside at Carbatec as I have done. To the naysayers. Were your problems really that big a deal in the first place to have to have a big sook continually on the internet. If Carbatec cracks the sads and closes up shop, where are you going to go? You will have something to sook about then.
Well done Daniel99.

A bit harsh, it is after all a wood working shop. I have indeed called ahead about an item and been told it is in stock, I have even asked them to hold it for me, surprise surprise, I arrive and it is "there" on the computer but not there in the store. Perhaps I was dopey enough to believe them
Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.
