Attaching top to chest of drawers
Hi all,
I'm currently building a chest of drawers made from a Shaker design and want to attach the top to the carcass using something appropriate to the 1800's. I am working from measured drawings, which seem to omit crucial details. Can anyone help me with a solution?
Thanks and regards,
Rob

I would imagine you should use wooden buttons like a tabletop.

I'd go along with what Mat has said; wooden buttons let into a mortice in the rails and screwed through a slot in the button would work just fine - in fact that's how I attach most of the tops that I make.
BTW, Domi is excellent for cutting the mortices....
