Babies High Chair
I am the grandafather of a 11month old girl.
When she is at my place and we are having meals there is no place for her to sit - Does anyone out there have any design or whatever for a high chair.
Nothing too elaborate, just treated pine or something like that would do
There is a possibility to turn some bits for it (if necasary) but they would probably be as "alike" as TL's box finials
Plenty of blackwood, What finish? (thinking Poly for cleaning) etc welcome/needed
Thanks in advance
Cheersregards

Please do NOT use treated pine, unless you don't actually want a grandaughter.

Yep Bob the nipper needs somewhere to sit - just trying to keep the mess in a localised spot inside the house. You would remember what thats like - plus putting her hand in the middle of your tea when you are eating gets a bit messy after a while My household still eats at the kitchen table together yep i reckon some of the old ways are still best.
Gunna use some of the blackwood i ripped on the bandsaw a couple of years ago - started today but got interupted (phone call for golf) so why do today what you can put off till tomorrow
Anyway plan is to have tray height same as table so without tray (seatbelt on) the chair can be against/under edge of the table as part of the family or with tray on stick the kid in the corner - then wash the walls etc after meal is finished
Ability is often exceeded by plans/intentions when i take on woodworking jobs so no promises for finished photos - also tools are at a minimum
Cheersregards

The journey begins
Ok i finally started. This is the first build with wood for over 30 years since i left school. Well i did do that jumper frame but in reality i just watched. I am much happier working with steel as a welder and grinder are much easier to fill up holes & lengthen bits cut just on the short side anyway here goes.
Not really happy with the joins but the 2 side frames were glued yesterday, already more mistakes than i wanted but i guess you learn as you go. This is no gallery peice but i reckon the kid wont know the difference.
Thanks to Ray for the plans to get the measurements from. The footprint is 450 x 400 with a seat of 300 x 300. Height is 710 to top of arm rests to fit under the kitchen table. The plan is to be able to use a tray (when i get it made) or just sit at the table. One phone call to Jeff so far for advice and one to Greg about domino's. (what a great group of people on this forum) Today i cut the rest of the bits for the chair and was just about to glue it up when i decided i didnt like one side frame so cut it apart and reglued.
Tools available Bandsaw, Planer/thicknesser, hand belt sander, 6" air orbital sander, router and a couple of cordless drills. Lathe work done on the MC 1100 surprisingly the 4 bits for the bottom of the legs were not that different - no closeups though.
Tomorrow glue up the rest of it. then final sand and finish with Feast Watson.
Cheersregards
