had the same problem with bi metal blades snapping, changed supplier and quoted the wheel size and they suppled accordingly since then no issues at all.

I have the same band saw and had all kinds of problems, turns out it wasn't the saw but the blades. Changed to Combined Saw And Knife carbide tipped and everything is sweet. They are in Deception Bay.

You are close to me, happy for you to come and have a look at the saw set up.

Is the blade snapping or the joint failing?

If the 'tension gauge' on the 14/12 is the same as the 14BX, it's just a magentic sticker thingo. I ignore it entirely and use the rudimentary push the blade and see how much deflection you have test.

For what it's worth, I had a Laguna Shearforce blade for about 6 months before it snapped. Since then I've tensioned using deflection and been running a Combined Saw and Knife 3/4" 3tpi bimetal blade and 5/8" 3tpi carbon blade. They've been in hobbyist use for 4 years and neither have snapped. The bimetal lets me do 3mm resaws with about 0.25mm of cleanup so I haven't thought much about getting a carbide blade yet.

When the Resaw King first came out, quite a few folks reported problems with the carbide tipped bands. The thing is - they were fairly narrow. That was exciting, as it helps reduce kerf losses in expensive exotics, but at the end, they are what they are. Not sure what ever came out of it, as I haven't done much resawing in the last 5-years.
