    Default Bandsaw guide blocks

    G’day Woodies.
I have an old Tatry/DeWalt bandsaw. The guide blocks are getting a little slim. Can anyone tell me where I might obtain replacements?
Is there material suitable for making similar block?
    Thanks..Matt

You can make your own using lignum vitae if you are lucky enough to find some. I have used it for years successfully because the wood is naturally oily and wears extremely well.

Might have more luck searching for DW738 guides, looks to be the same BS as yours. The above link has the Tatry models listed as compatible as well.

    Edit: Here's a link through ebay.com.au. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-X-Blac...oAAOSwk1haJcl~
The shipping and GST will be 7x the price of one guide... Yeeesh. Maybe Dewalt Australia would be willing to order the guides for you?

I ran hardwood blocks in my saw for years. Did not have any lignum vitae but jarrah did fine. A rub of candle wax from time to time. When they got worn a quick true up on a sander. The saw ran a lot quieter than with the original metal blocks and was likely kinder on the blades.

A bit of iron bark or gidgee will rub up as smooth as glass.

Or you could try the latest in guides from the US, Cool Blocks https://www.olsonsaw.net/shop/band-saw-blades/accessories/cool-blocks-band-saw-blade-guides

BTW if you do, get some of this too, works a treat https://www.olsonsaw.net/shop/coping...bricant-stick/
