Bandsaw Vee belt advice
Hello fellow woodworkers, I am posting this on behalf of a mate. He has an old HAFCO bandsaw 1993 model BP-350 and requires a belt. The belt is the one not going from the motor to the pulley but from the pulley to the wheel. He is wondering how he can source a belt to fit this machine. OR he has thought of having one custom made but he does not know what company to achieve that. All is appreciated.
Here is the manual of the saw, just to make you familiar with what we are working with.

Go to a place like super cheap auto and bring along the old belt and have look in their fan belt section and find something that is as close as possible in both length and profile
The range of adjustment will usually be enough to accommodate any slight differences in length.
Most machinery manufacturers use standard belts so they should fit.

I have found belts to fit old machines at specialist belts and pulleys suppliers. Google or yellow pages for your locality. Take the old belt along to match. Other place I would look is Hare and Forbes as they are usually good when it comes to spares for their own brand.
Regards
John

Measure belt width. This will determine weather its an A, B or C.
Measure length overall outside of the pulleys.
Refer to belt tables online and select belt.
Ring Australian Pulley Company 0245774428.
Ask for Luke or Andrew.
Quote required belt number.

In any capital city there are numerous companies that sell belts, pulleys, & bearings - use the Yellow pages or let Google be your friend, to find one nearest to you.
Belts in most section sizes, come in a vast array of lengths in incremental sizes and you can often choose between different qualities. Take the old belt along, or measure the approximate length, and unless it's a complete orphan, they'll have something to match.
The belts I get from a belt & bearing place for my ride-on mower cost half as much or less than the 'genuine part' and last more than twice as long. Pretty easy decision as to which ones I go for...
Cheers,IW
