Basswood - Where can I get some?
Hi All,
I need a small amount of basswood to test a couple of finishing ideas on - before I commit to the guitar body I am working on.
Any ideas where I can get some?
Thanks,
Colin

Try your local radio control model plane shop/s, Basswood is often used for the framing of large r/c aircraft. HobbyCo and Bergs in Sydney also have thin (1>2mm) sheets in the model railroad department.
On line, MicroMark (http://www.micromark.com/) have a wide selection in their catalog, I have used them before and they are fairly reliable, there may be the occasional stuffup with the wrong item being shipped but otherwise they are pretty good.
Rockler also sell basswood by the inch - http://www.rockler.com/basswood-lumb...he-lineal-inch as well as blocks for carving.
If ordering for delivery by mail, remember that Australia post have a limit of 40 inches/1010mm for the package length.

Thanks Guys,
Yes plenty of shutters and blinds in basswood!
I hadn't twigged to hobby shops.

Basswood
There was a recent article in Australian wood smith featuring bass wood. Cannot remember which one, but I'm pretty sure they listed suppliers on the back.
If you can't find it let me know and I will look it up!
Regards,Smithy
