    Default The Beenleigh Sunday Markets

My wife and I like going to craft markets, antique stores and dusty old shops in little country towns. When we travel this, and eating anything too slow to run away, are our favorite things to do.

Well of all the markets I have visited, one of the very best one for old hand tools is the one closest to where I live. The Beenleigh Sunday Market at the Show Grounds can be an amazing place to look for old hand tools. Some days there is not much, but others, like yesterday, well I wondered if I had died and been sent to heaven. Old planes and chisels marking tools were everywhere. I got a really good Stanley 151 spokeshave for $25. I suppose I could have bargained it down to $20 but I was happy to pay $25 for a good old tool in really good condition.

If you live around the Southern side of Brisbane it would pay you to make a few trips to these markets.

A bit further away, but even more wonderful, is the Makers Center in Burnie, on the North Coast of Tasmania. If you like making stuff you ealy must see this place before you die.

Every Sunday morning. Some mornings are better tool mornings than others. I go very often since it is close by but most days you can find a nice old tool of some sort. Other days, like yesterday. you were tripping over them.
